Your paddle is the most important piece of equipment in pickleball. Choosing the right one can make a significant difference in your game.

    Paddle Materials

Graphite: Lightweight and offers excellent control. Great for players who value finesse over power.

Composite: A good balance of power and control. Ideal for intermediate players.

Wood: Heavier and less expensive. Good for beginners learning the basics.

    Weight Considerations

Paddles typically range from 6-14 ounces:

    • Lightweight (6-7.5 oz): Better control, easier on the arm
    • Midweight (7.5-8.5 oz): Balance of power and control
    • Heavyweight (8.5+ oz): More power, but can cause fatigue

    Grip Size

The right grip size prevents injury and improves control. Measure from the middle of your palm to the tip of your ring finger to find your ideal grip circumference.
